In this world, we already know about internet, socmed, app, and ect. But do you know this ?
A. What is HOAX ?
- Yepp, that's right. That is HOAX (What's that?). HOAX = FAKE (For example, Do you have FAKE friend ? It's a kind of that maybe, haha). HOAX in short case is to cheat/trick. So, HOAX is a term / type of fake that give the wrong information about anything. Sometimes, HOAX is on internet, socmed, app and ect.
B. What are "the words" in HOAX ? (sorry, wrong grammar)
- Usually, the words make people believe that FAKE NEWS (what the!!!). Very bad, isn't it ? For example, the "Bad Times" virus claimed to be a virus capable of erasing everything on computer (??? Forget it, I don't understand too, hah). See it, now what are you thinking about? I think people will say "oh my god" / "wow moments" -_- (ok, fine).
C. How to spot a HOAX ?
If you want to try to make sure that you don't get caught out by fake news, there is a few things you can look out for.
Ask yourself:
- Has the story been reported anywhere else?
- Is it on the radio, TV or in the newspapers?
- Have you heard of the organisation that published the story?
- Does the website where you found the story look genuine? (meaning it doesn't look like a copycat website that's designed to look like another genuine website)
- Does the website address at the very top of the page look real? Is the end of the website something normal like '.co.uk' or '.com', and not something unusual, like 'com.co'?
- Does the photo or video look normal?
- Does the story sound believable?
If you're sure if a story is accurate or not, speak to an adult you trust about it
If the answer to any of these questions is 'no', you might want to check it out a bit more, before spreading the word.
